Bone Broth made easy

MJ

Step 1

Dust off your crock pot/ slow cooker

Step 2

Place all left over bones from family meals in the crock pot and cover them completely with water

Step 3

Add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. (The acid, from the vinegar breaks down the calcium carbonate of the bones, releasing this important mineral into the broth)

Step 4

Turn crock pot on and let the water get infused by the bones' minerals, cartilage and collagen.

The broth should get infused for a minimum of 8 hours.

In our home we turn the crock pot off at night, and back on in the morning to let it continue to infuse during the day. We leave the original bones in and continue to add any bones for 3-4 days, ensuring that there is always enough water to completely cover the bones.

Step 5

Our dog is 100lbs and I give a ladle per meal. MAKE SURE IT IS COMPLETELY COOLED.

Also make sure not to scoop up bones accidentally....You ONLY WANT THE BROTH

Step 6

Whatever broth remains at the end of the 4 days, can be frozen in ice cube trays. The frozen broth cubes can then be transferred to a freezer bag. These cubes come in handy if you give your crock pot a break.
